‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Spoilers: Jon Snow’s Birth Name Revealed?

Well, there is tons of “Game of Thrones” season 7 rumors and fan theories floating around, but a certain potentially explosive news involving Jon Snow is now in the rounds.

[Spoiler Alert!]

Last season, the fans got to know that Snow was not Ned Stark’s bastard son, but Ned’s sister Lyanna and Rhaegar Targaryen’s son. And now, as per a Reddit post with an image of what is reportedly Empire magazine’s July 2017 issue, Snow’s real name is Jaehaerys Targaryen, Winter is Coming reported.

Whoa! There is no proof as to if this piece of information is legit, but if it turns out to be true, then apparently one of the best-kept secrets in the “Game of Thrones” series has just been revealed.

As for the name, it is an old Targaryen family name, to be specific, Snow will be Jaehaerys III, should this prove to be true. The very first Jaehaerys, mostly known as Jaehaerys the Wise, Jaehaerys the Conciliator, was the longest reigning Targaryen king with a period of 55 years. He was also the fourth Targaryen king to sit the Iron Throne.

Jaehaerys II was the sixteenth Targaryen king to sit the Iron Throne He died at the age of 37 and was the father of the Mad King Aerys Targaryen. Jaehaerys II would be the great grandfather of Snow, if this turns true.

However, this goes well in line with the long-running fan theory that Snow is a Targaryen and the legendary “Prince That Was Promised.” Chances are that Snow’s very existence may be the fruition of the prophecy received by Jaehaerys II.

Though it feels within the realms of possibility that his real name is Jaehaerys, fans will have to wait till “Game of Thrones” Season 7 or even Season 8 to know if it’s true. “GoT” will be returning to HBO on July 16, 2017.

It seems when “Game of Thrones” returns for Season 7, next summer, the show will take the fans to another epic battle, as Emilia Clarke, who plays the role of Daenerys teases what the series has in store.

On the Emmy red carpet, the actress teased that the upcoming season will not just be, as good as Season 6, but will also top it.

“It’s ridiculous. I know everything! There’s another battle that’s epic,” she admitted to TV Line. In fact, the battle is more likely going to be epic enough to rival the famous “Battle of the Bastards.”

It was not just Clarke who teased the fans about the “Game of Thrones” Season 7, but even Sophia Turner who portrays the character of Sansa Stark, dropped a teaser about the season going to be really satisfying.

“I was actually speechless. This season is unbelievable and I think fans are going to be really satisfied. It’s crazy,” Turner said, about how she felt after reading the script of “Game of Thrones” season 7.

Late last month, her onscreen sister Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) tweeted that nothing could prepare the fans for the upcoming season as “S*** gets REAL,” immediately after reading the scripts.

Also at the Emmys’ Red Carpet, the executive producer David Benioff shared some details about the upcoming final two seasons that they will be bigger. “And it will be better. And it will also be worse, but mostly better,” he added.

As for the recent hype around a possible prequel for the series, Benioff addressed it stating it’s a question for the author George R.R. Martin.

“It’s a great world that George created. I think it’s a very rich world, and I’m sure there will be other series set in Westeros, but for us, this is it. That’s really a question for George,” Benioff told the Entertainment Weekly.

However, Martin, though gave a slight hope of a possible prequel, made it clear that the news was nothing but just another rumor.

“Well, I do have thousands of pages of fake history — everything that led up to Game of Thrones — so there’s a wealth of material there, and I’m still writing more,” Martin said. “At the moment, we still have this show to finish, and I still have two books to finish, so that’s all speculation.”

Meanwhile, the “Game of Thrones” has taken away 12 trophies (nine at the Creative Arts Emmys and three during the ceremony), bringing the total count of Emmys to 38. This total has made “GoT” the most decorated primetime series in the history of Emmys.

Turner is actually expecting a reunion for Sansa with her sister Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, as Arya has finally stepped foot in Westeros. Though the sisters did not get along or even like each other originally, it is predicated that the two heiresses of Winterfell will be back together in the next season. However, Turner is not sure what will happen and asked her fans to not get their hopes high, just with the “Game of Thrones” Season 7 spoilers.

“I feel like it has to happen, but at the same time, if it did happen, would it be too obvious? Would it be too much of a good thing? Nothing that satisfactory happens on the show, because it’s ‘Game of Thrones,’ they want to make it dark and depressing and that’s what makes it amazing,” she explained, according to Vine Report.

There are a lot of speculated theories of what will happen in the “Game of Thrones” Season 7. As per the rumors, Sansa will also turn alliance with Petyr Baelish, played by Aidan Gillen, and pledge allegiance to dethrone her half-brother Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, who holds the North in unison. Nevertheless, Jon is yet to know his true identity and it’s up to Bran Stark, played by Issac Hempstead Wright, to reveal it.

“To me, I think what will happen now is that it appears Bran will head south to Winterfell,” Hempstead-Wright said in an interview with The Independent, about what might be his character’s next step in the upcoming season.

“Game of Thrones” Season 7 will air sometime in 2017.
