Money Heist Season 5: Final Season To Have 2 New Members

It seems that the Professor’s heist plan is finally coming to an end, as Netflix has renewed the series for the fifth and final season. But what’s more interesting is that the upcoming season will see new characters coming in.

“Sense8” star Miguel Ángel Silvestre and “Vivir sin permiso,” or “Unauthorized Living” star Patrick Criado has also been roped in for undisclosed roles in the final season of “La Casa De Papel” or “Money Heist.”

Series creator Alex Pina has teased about the new characters without revealing full details, relating to how they will fit into the story, and what they will bring/add to the story, hinting that they may be government officials – opponents of The Professor.

“We always try that our opponents be charismatic, intelligent, shiny,” Pina told The EW. “In this case, in pure war film genre, we also look for characters whose intelligence can measure up against The Professor’s.”

In the fourth season of “Money Heist,” audience saw the heist that actually began to save Rio, turn into a war with the authorities, to avenge the death of the beloved team member Nairobi. But, the unexpected finale that had kept the fans holding their breaths, was when The Professor was discovered by Alicia Sierra, who pointed a gun at him.

“We are moving from a chess game – a mere intellectual strategy – to a war strategy: attack and contention,” said Pina, which he claims will result in “the most epic part of all the parts we’ve shot,”

When the series returns for the last season, the viewers will get to know Manila, Denver’s childhood friend, a lot more in the last 10 episodes. Pina has also teased a standoff between Sierra and The Professor.

“Adrenaline is within Money Heist’s DNA. Every thirty seconds things take place and disrupt the characters, a turn of the screw to the action. The adrenaline mixed with feelings arising from absolutely complex, magnetic, unforeseeable characters will continue until the end of the heist to the Bank of Spain,” Pina says. “However, the gang will now be pushed into irreversible situations, into a wild war.”

It has been reported that the production of the final season will begin on Monday, August 3, 2020, in Denmark, before moving to Spain and Portugal. If the production goes as planned, the show may possibly premiere by the early 2021. However, with all the restrictions and delays due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is not easy to fix a premiere time.
